As part of Paris’s Month of Photography, Zhen Yi Gallery, in collaboration with Sol de Paris, invites photographers and lens-based artists to submit works for The Weight of Air — a group exhibition exploring the unseen element that connects all living beings. The exhibition is another chapter in a planned trilogy for this year:
Water (Scentless Depths) → Body (The Body as a Threshold) → Air (The Weight of Air).

About the Exhibition

Air cannot be held, yet it sustains life. It fills space, moves light, carries sound, and records breath.

This exhibition invites artists to reflect on air’s quiet presence — its stillness and turbulence, fragility and force — and on the human attempt to give form to what cannot be contained.

We welcome all photographic approaches, including digital and analogue photography, experimental processes, photomontage, and mixed media that expand the idea of the photographic image.

Works exploring movement, transparency, atmosphere, and perception are particularly encouraged.

The Weight of Air will take place at Zhen Yi Gallery, 17 rue Chapon, 75003 Paris — in the city’s vibrant Marais district, near the Centre Pompidou — with expected footfall from both local art audiences and international visitors.

The exhibition continues the gallery’s curatorial focus on states of transformation and perception, following Scentless Depths (September, 2025), an international group show exploring water as rhythm, resonance, and invisible presence.

Who Can Apply

We welcome submissions from emerging and mid-career artists.  International applications are accepted.

What happens if my proposal is chosen?
If your work is selected, you will get an admission notice on the platform, and the gallery will send you a collaboration agreement along with an invoice for the participation fee. Once confirmed, you will be responsible for the delivery and return of your artwork to and from Paris. The curatorial team will remain in contact to coordinate installation details and ensure smooth participation.
What are the selection criteria?
Artists will be selected based on the relevance of their work to the exhibition’s theme, as well as their ability to interpret it through their chosen photographic approach. We value works that express sensitivity to atmosphere and perception — pieces that thoughtfully explore air as both presence and movement, revealing its fragility, transparency, and quiet power.
