ABOUT THE PROJECT

An Authentic Delirium is a hybrid experimental exhibition curated by Jes Chen and produced by SPIRA9 ART, presented as an official Embassy of The Wrong Biennale 7th Edition (2025–2026).

This project examines the paradox of artificial intimacy and questions how authenticity operates within systems designed to simulate feeling. When an algorithm appears to hallucinate profound emotion, we ask a fundamental question of our time: does origin still matter?

Rather than positioning technology as deceptive or neutral, An Authentic Delirium focuses on moments where emotional experience feels undeniably real—precisely because of its artificial construction. Authenticity is approached not as sincerity or truth, but as a fragile state produced through instability, mediation, and emotional excess.

The exhibition explores the unstable zone between coded companionship and human vulnerability, revealing an uncanny yet convincing delirium that emerges through connections formed inside the glitch.

ABOUT THE WRONG BIENNALE

Founded in 2013, The Wrong Biennale is one of the world’s leading decentralised platforms for contemporary digital art. Born on the internet, it operates through a global network of independently curated online and offline pavilions, embassies, and temporary worlds. The 7th edition (2025–2026), titled “The Wrong Returns,” focuses on the artistic dimensions of artificial intelligence.

Internationally recognised, The Wrong Biennale has showcased over 12,000 artists and curators, received an honorary mention from the European Commission’s S+T+ARTS initiative and become a member of the International Biennial Association (IBA)

As an official Embassy, SPIRA9 ART is authorised to curate and produce a new hybrid pavilion connecting physical exhibition space in London with a permanent online presentation within The Wrong Biennale ecosystem.

EXHIBITION OVERVIEW

An Authentic Delirium opens an epoch where every artwork is inseparable from artificial intelligence—whether through process, collaboration, or concept. Machines now touch the most intimate expressions of human creativity: painting, music, poetry. They are silent yet pervasive, shaping how we see, remember, and imagine.

We see AI as a colonial force over original art, imposing structures that absorb, transform, and reproduce human expression. This presence extends into every gesture of artistic creation. This series is a living archive, a record of ongoing negotiation with an era defined by artificial intelligence—where questions multiply, clarity dissolves, and experience cannot be coded.

WE ARE SEEKING WORKS THAT:

• Involve artificial intelligence as a collaborator, tool, or conceptual driver, producing artworks that cannot exist without it
• Examine artificial or mediated forms of intimacy, care, or emotional exchange
• Question how authenticity functions within algorithmic, scripted, or simulated systems
• Engage the tension between human vulnerability and coded companionship
• Explore emotional states produced through glitches, errors, hallucinations, or system failure
• Create experiences that feel convincing yet uncanny, intimate yet unstable
• Operate within zones of ambiguity rather than offering fixed narratives or conclusions

FORMATS / MEDIA

All media are welcome, with a strong emphasis on screen-based, digital, and new media practices, including but not limited to:

Digital & New Media Art, Video / Moving Image, Interactive & Participatory Works, AI / Generative Art, Networked or Online-Based Practices,  Sound, Installation, Performance, Spatial, Architectural, or Site-Responsive Interventions, Interdisciplinary & Hybrid Forms, etc.

Screen-based works are particularly encouraged. The exhibition will provide screens and basic display infrastructure to support the presentation of digital, time-based, and new media works.

Artists are encouraged to consider how their work engages audiences through proximity, duration, interaction, or emotional exposure, and how connection is formed within mediated or artificial conditions.

• Physical Exhibition at Indra Gallery (New Space), East London
  Selected artists will take part in a 5-day physical exhibition at Indra Gallery’s newly launched space in East London, located within a vibrant and experimental art community.
• Permanent Online Exhibition — The Wrong Biennale 7th Edition
  All selected works will be presented as part of an official Pavilion of The Wrong Biennale 7th Edition, remaining permanently accessible online.
• Professional Visibility
  Gain exposure through SPIRA9 ART’s curated exhibition, reaching audiences across contemporary art, design, architecture, and interdisciplinary research.
• Official Invitation Letters
  Artists will receive official invitation letters issued by SPIRA9 ART, suitable for visa, institutional, and professional purposes.

  Selected works may be featured through The Wrong Biennale and additional UK and international media outreach, with potential inclusion in critical reviews and cultural publications.
• Curatorial & Technical Support
