OPEN CALL Postcard Exhibition & Sale of Work – WILDTHINGS.

WILDTHINGS will be a 6-month long online exhibition on the website & digital platforms of Beach Gallery, Orkney. All work will be for sale. We are looking for 2-D postcard sized work (6x4 inches) on the theme of wildlife. Perhaps you are inspired by the birds in your garden, wild animals at the zoo, ocean creatures, creepy crawly insects or butterflies & bees. Whatever inspires you, wildlife plays a part in all of our lives.

Artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit up to 3 pieces of work each. There is a £3 entry charge to submit your 3 artworks. We intend to select as many works as possible to create an interesting and varied exhibition, and all work will be for sale.

Each work will be advertised for sale for £25, with £5 being retained as gallery commission should the work be sold. There is no sales commission charged if work is not sold. If you would like unsold work returned to you please let us know.

The exhibition will run online from May to October 2021. The submission deadline is at midnight on 24th March.

To apply please complete the application form with your images, pay the £3 entry charge via our website then send your 3 works by Royal Mail post to Beach Gallery, Hoy, Orkney KW16 3PQ to arrive not later than midnight on 31st March.

Work needs to arrive by 31st March at the latest to give us time to photograph all the works and upload them to our digital platforms, so please make sure you leave enough time for work to arrive.

Work must be 2D. Work should be postcard sized (strictly 6x4 inches), made on a postcard, or on paper, card, or thin lightweight board (no thicker than half a millimetre before the artwork is applied) and cut to size. Work should be sent by Royal Mail ONLY (not by courier).

How to Submit Your Artwork

Artists are invited to submit postcard sized (6x4 inches) 2D work. You are welcome to submit up to 3 pieces of work. Each artwork will be advertised for sale at £25 with £5 gallery commission deducted if work is sold.

Work must be unframed and made on a postcard, or on paper, card, or thin lightweight board (no thicker than half a millimetre before the artwork is applied) and cut to size. All kinds of media are acceptable including photographs, collage, paintings, printmaking, drawings, fabric, knitting, weaving, embroidery, textiles & craftwork provided they are postcard sized.

Work should not have any hanging attachments. We will photograph the work and upload to an online gallery on www.BeachGallery.co.uk with online shop facility so customers can buy the works. We will promote the exhibition extensively across digital platforms, handle credit card sales transactions on your behalf & despatch sold work to customers.
