South Hill Park Arts Centre is seeking artworks that examine and are influenced by lunar expeditions and explore humanity’s urge to discover more about outer space.

‘To the moon and back: artists exploring outer space’ is a group exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first humans landing on the Moon as part of NASA’s Apollo 11 lunar mission. We are looking for emerging artists working across all analogue and digital media including 2D art forms, sculpture, and interactive pieces. We are particularly interested in works that present distinctive techniques and which relate, but are not limited, to the following themes and ideas:

  • Land of the moon and of planets
  • Interstellar travelling
  • Missions into space as an eventual occurrence
  • The moon/outer space as a site for misrepresentation and mistrust
  • Gravity
  • Matter – Energy
  • Multiverse

Submissions and participation in the exhibition are free. There is a small budget which will cover technical support, including installation of selected works, a breakfast preview as well as curatorial support and publicity. Technical and transportation support will be provided within reason. Exhibiting artists may also have their works on sale and potential exhibition related products within reason and with a standard commission.
