Outside In is delighted to be partnering with Artspace Coventry to deliver its Leading Workshops course, which will equip participants with the skills and confidence to design and deliver their own creative workshops.
What is Step Up?
Step Up is the training and professional development programme devised and delivered by award-winning arts charity Outside In. The programme is a key part in the charity’s work to provide a platform for artists who find it difficult to access the art world for reasons including health, disability, social circumstance or isolation. The programme focuses on supporting participants to gain new skills in order to increase opportunities.
Tell me more about the Leading Workshops course…
The course will support each artist to develop their skills and experience to design and deliver creative arts workshops to a diverse range of participants in different settings. The course will be delivered by an experienced Step Up Tutor, who will provide artists with a structured practice-based programme, enabling you to plan and try out your role as arts facilitator.
The course will cover all aspects of leading an arts workshop. This will include how to support a diverse range of participants, how to approach and set up a fully accessible workshop space and ideas about how to creatively evaluate your workshop.

What do other people say about Step Up?
"A large spark of inspiration into life possibilities, being part of Outside In in general has been amazing for me on this level. It’s like I’m daring to dream of a different life."
"The programme exceeded my expectations, getting me working again at a professional level. I am thinking about becoming self-employed, about teaching, progressing further, finding out about funding. It has refocused my professional practice and I have started to think about further professional opportunities. I think of myself as an artist again instead of a person that was unwell and doodled."
