PLAYGROUND: Exploring Mental Health
Deadline: 27/03/2020Venue: Middle Floor, Wharf Chambers, Leeds (TBC) | City: Leeds | Region: West Yorkshire | Country: United Kingdom | James Gray
Playground is a new Anti-Curation space exploring important social issues without the white cube oppression. Everyone involved is free to play and discover for themselves, with contributions from all creative disciplines collected in one dynamic space. If you are an emerging or student creative living or based in Leeds, and your work explores mental health, recovery or grief, then this Playground is for you. This is a collaboration, where we all share and speak out together.
Please complete the submission form and follow the instructions. Make sure to include the following:
- A brief 200 word description of your practice and background.
- A 200 word Artist Statement explaining your work and why you would like to include it in Playground.
- Examples of your practice, and links to any of your blogs, we pages or social media sites.
Playground is an interdisciplinary and collaborative space, so whether your practice is music, live art, poetry, spoken word, performance, art, sculpture, film, digital media or any other creative outlet, this open call is for you.
Mental Health is a sensitive topic for many to open discuss, and your submission will be treated with respect, discretion and privacy. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact the organiser.
This exhibition is funded by Leeds Community Foundation and will be the first in a series of exhibits across the City, each exploring a different social issue. If your submission is not included this time, you are encouraged to submit for the next Playground, so long as you can evidence the relevance of your work to the topic.
The exhibition will take place on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th May 2020, 6pm - 10pm at Middle Floor, Wharf Chambers, 23-25 Wharf Street, Leeds, LS2 7EQ.
Deadline: Friday 27th March 2020, 4pm
