Darmstädter Sezession and Blue Star Contemporary announce international award competition for contemporary video artists in 2021. This listing is for the award administered by BSC. Artists based in San Antonio, TX are eligible for this call.

Projection San AntonioApplicants living and working in San Antonio are invited to submit up to one video work of no more than 10 minutes in length through an online Open Call accessed through bluestarcontemporary.org/open-call/. A selection of up to 12 works will be chosen for the shortlist by a jury, with a winner receiving a $6,000 (equivalent to 5.000€).

The films will be screened during the first two weeks of September in San Antonio, including in collaboration with the World Heritage Festival. The San Antonio screening program , and will also feature a shortlist of works by das members and the winning film from Projektion Darmstadt. The shortlisted San Antonio works will be screened in Darmstadt, Germany as well. 

Projection San Antonio Eligibility- Candidates must:

  • Live and conduct artistic practice in the city of San Antonio. Must have resided in San Antonio for at least the last 12 months.
  • Have at least 5 years of relevant experience and/or specialized arts training, such as a degree or certificate.
  • Demonstrate a clear investment of time and resources into their artistic practice
  • Have professional portfolios that include publicly displayed and possibly published works.
  • Submitted work must have been made in the last 3 years.
  • Not currently a student.
  • Work demonstrates artistic excellence.
  • Berlin Residency Awardees from the last two cycles are not eligible to apply
