Do you make work about protest in any form?  Whether it's environmental, political, ethical, economic, social and historical issues or civil and human rights, we're looking for visual artists to exhibit their work at our upcoming exhibition.

'Protest for Change' will take place from Sunday 11th October to Monday 7th December 2026 at North Bar, 24 New Briggate, Leeds LS1 6NU.

The opening event will take place on Sunday 11th October, 3 - 6 pm, with free entry, a pop-up shop and the bar open for drinks.

We'll also be launching our collaborative zine under the same name.

We welcome all visual artists, both individuals and collectives.

Ideas for submissions: anti-racism, queer/trans rights, climate change, anti-war, cost of living, immigration - to name a few!

You must be based in Yorkshire as this is where the collective is based and ideally able to attend the opening event on Sunday 11th October.

Free to submit and participate.

Most wall-mountable mediums are accepted within the limits of the venue. We unfortunately cannot accept film or audio artworks.

You can submit up to 5 separate pieces of work.

Your application can be for existing or new work that will be made. 

There will also be the opportunity to sell your exhibited pieces for the duration of the exhibition as well as smaller work in our shop (opening night only).

Set up on Sunday 11th October will begin from 9 am where you must arrange to drop off your work (or someone else on your behalf) at the venue before 11 am and work with venue organisers to best showcase your piece(s).

You must be able to collect your work after the exhibition closes on Monday 7th December either from the venue or from Kat's studio at Yarn Studios in Shipley (to be arranged individually).

There will be a dedicated shop for selling smaller pieces at the opening, so if this interests you, please fill out the section in this form. 

As this is a free opportunity, any work that is sold over the course of the exhibition will have a 20% commission fee, and you will be paid from Monday 12th October if you make any sales from the shop. Exhibited pieces that are sold will be paid within two days.

Any exhibited pieces that are sold can be collected from North Bar when the exhibition is taken down, mailed by post to the buyer or via an alternative arrangement with the organisers.

Applications close at midnight on Wednesday 30th September.

You will hear back from us after Thursday 1st October via Curatorspace, if you have been successful, so there will be enough time to make the proposed pieces from scratch if required.
