Ryedale Folk Museum is inviting artists to apply to feature in a new exhibition for 2023 called Pub!, which will be on show in the Museum's sought-after art gallery space this summer. This is a great opportunity to join us and celebrate the brilliant British country pub.

Pub! will display historic photographs from the Museum’s archive that feature pubs past and present, in and around the North York Moors. We want to celebrate these brilliant British institutions and all that goes with them...the first mouthful of a great pint after a long day’s work, chat and banter at the bar, a hearty Sunday lunch, the formidable landlord and more...

The exhibition will open on Wednesday 19 July and end on Monday 4 September (inclusive). The art gallery is a free to visit space and open to visitors Saturday to Thursday (closed on Fridays) from 10am – 5pm. A private view event will take place on Monday 17 July. 5-7pm.

Alongside our Museum photographs, we would like to invite artists to submit an art work for display, on the theme of the pub. Up to three individual pieces from each artist will be considered. We hope to work with 4-6 artists, selecting one work from each artist.

We are seeking expressions of interest from artists by 9am on Monday 1 May 2023.

Artworks must meet the theme of ‘pub’. This could include depictions of pints of beer, punters propping up the bar or outside pub ‘portraits. These are just examples and as long as you can tell us how your work meets the theme then we are open-minded! Artworks must be for sale.

There are no restrictions on artistic media, therefore we can accept paints, prints, photographs, textile art, jewellery and sculpture etc.
