To celebrate the opening of The Ledward Centre - Brighton's LGBTQAI+ new safe space, The Socially Engaged Art Salon (SEAS) is inviting queer photographers and artists from the UK and beyond (and/or photographers who engage with queer issues) to submit photography works for a large group exhibition in October 2021 with an option to exhibit more works in our 2022 exhibitions.

We are looking for socially engaged photography such as participatory projects but will also accept studio-based work, documentary, photography and text, collage, fashion photography and even wedding photography - everything goes as long as it can be defined as queer!

We are also keen to see new photography formats that challenge the definitions of what photography can be.

We also accept proposal for a photography based room installations.

We would also love to see work from artists/photographers from underrepresented sectors including BPOC, migrants and refugees, people with visible and non-visible disabilities, neurodivergent persons and autodidact photographers.

Your work will be exhibited alongside celebrated queer photographers such as Kathy Cade and Leonard Fink who have shown their work with us before. Showing us your work might also lead to participating in future exhibitions during 2022 and possibly some mini solo exhibitions at the centre in 2022.

The works are going to be projected or shown on digital screens so there will no need to post work.

The exhibition will include a colour printed catalogue/zine which will be gifted to all selected artists.

Chosen artists will receive a modest fee but the sum will depend on the selected works and our funding resources from the Art Council England and other grants.

To learn more about us please see www.seasbrighton.org

We are looking forward to seeing your work.
