Residency or Project Space available at Back Lane West, Redruth, Cornwall
Deadline: 04/06/2020Venue: 9 Back Lane West | City: Redruth | Region: Cornwall and Isles of Scilly | Country: United Kingdom | Back Lane West
Back Lane West is welcoming residency/project/event proposals from individual artists, collaborators, artist groups, curators, writers and arts organisers, for dates from April 2020 on a rolling basis.
Back Lane West is a not for profit artist-led space in Redruth, which provides residency space to test and develop new work, for contemporary artists at any stage of their career.
Resident artists will have use of our self contained project space and resource area with wifi, books and magazines, A3 printing facilities, a basic tool kit and projector. If artists decide to open the space to the public during their residency period, support for marketing, publicity and hosting will be provided by the Back Lane West team.
The team can also be available during the residency period for advice or support depending on the needs of the artist. Residency applications which include a public event or opening will be looked upon favourably, we find that a one night open evening with a talk or screening on the final Thursday of a residency works well.
Back Lane West very occasionally programmes events such as talks, reading groups and peer led crit sessions take place in the space, if these coincide with a residency period the artist will be contacted in advance to ensure the dates and arrangements are mutually agreeable. These infrequent events are a good way to connect with the local arts community.
We ask a fee of £200 for artist residencies/projects lasting up to four weeks at BLW – £150 for up to 2 weeks – to help cover our costs. We are happy to support artist applications for external funding, please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
We are currently welcoming applications for 2020, with the earliest availablity being April.
Standard residencies last four weeks and begin on the first Monday of a month.
