Open call for short films (10 minutes and under) from artist/filmmakers based in the South West. We are looking for short films for a screening event during our inaugural exhibition Watching Limbo (21st September – 21st October) in our project space in Bedminster, Bristol.

We welcome single-channel film and video works from within the fields of artists' moving image and media art, short narrative films, documentaries, experimental and essay films, animation and video collage. There are no restrictions on date or premiere status. During this event we want to put a spotlight on short filmmakers in the South West.

To submit your work send a link to your film (and password if required). Maximum 3 works per Artist

Caraboo Projects is a non-profit contemporary visual-arts space co-founded in 2018 by a group of artists, educators, and other specialists in the creative sector. Our collective is dedicated to building an accessible art space in Bedminster that promotes experimentation and education across disciplines. Our contemporary art space and studio complex is housed in a derelict printing factory just off East Street in Bedminster acquired through the Bristol charity group Gathering Voices.

No. We have no funding for this event.
Is there a private view / opening?
Yes. Date to be confirmed. It will be during October.
What are the exhibition opening hours?
Date and time to be confirmed. The event will take place on a Friday/Saturday.
What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
The event will be publicised on our website and other social media handles, it will be advertised widely through Bristol events listings and will be promoted via newsletters.
Do I need to be present?
No, however this opportunity is aimed at bringing together South West filmmakers. We hope successful applicants will attend to help foster networks amongst filmmakers and artists in the region.
How do you decide on proposals?
This specific event is aimed at South West artists and filmmakers and please be aware of the other restrictions (e.g. 10 mins max, films need to be available for screening digitally). Upon meeting this basic criteria films will be judged by Caraboo Projects curators. We hope to create an eclectic and exciting programme of short films.
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
You will be contacted with instructions of how to send your film to us and you will be provided with details of the event. We hope to do this within 7 days of the deadline.
What are the selection criteria?
10 mins or less. Single channel. South West based artist/filmmakers.
