About PINK Manchester: PINK is a peripatetic curatorial project focusing on interdisciplinary research, practice and collaborative exchange. PINK plays host to an ambitious curatorial programme that comprises of overlapping objectives, thematic research and creative collaborations. This is built upon a seasonal cycle of consecutive exhibitions, residencies and events revolving around a thematic axis to carefully unfold experimental practices in close collaboration with artists, thinkers, writers, researchers, chefs and sommeliers; crossing knowledge fields in order to practice a critical fascination.

PINK SEASON #2: Opens up in Manchester, Stockport. Its second residency project space. Filled with a new space and studios.

We are looking for 1 other Greater Manchester based Artist (or beyond) to join myself and one other Artist. We will be located in Studio 1.2: in early August 2023.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for any contemporary Artist living and working in Manchester, or in the UK. To join PINK Stockport and share a studio space with us. Working in any medium, but not limited to, to a Fine Art practice in painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, digital, video-art, performance, art writing, text, textiles, research based* etc.

Ideally looking for applications where Artist has an engagement with one of the following- studio development, collaboration and personal development to emerging creative practice. Heres the summary:

  • Recent graduate
  • Working creatively in the last 1-4 years (after art school/simular education/self taught/or none)
  • Studio based practice
  • Passionate about contemporary art
  • Wanting to be part of a new community of Artists


So, if you're an emerging artist and you want to be part of something new and fresh.  Entering into a world of not knowing, with a  creative studio practice, and wanting to develop a Fine Art manifesto(s) for the future.- The get in touch! 

Candidates will need or want a studio space to develop practice, those using the space for storage will not be considered.

Applicants: will not be judged based on social background/education, race, gender or any other form of discrimitaion. ALL will be considered based on studio needs, artistic merit/craft, voice and vision, appropriate intrests and visual aspects of the artwork. 121s or face-to-face conversations may need to take place, before any considerations are finalised. This may take form as video-calls where needed/appropriate. 

Considering all of this: We open arms to anyone from LGBTQIA+ community,  those with disablities, neuro-divergent, gender inclusion, and respected preferred pronouns are all welcomed. The studio culture we aim for will be of that a respectful, and open-minded environment. ANY form of hate-speech, bulling, sexual harrasment, xenophobia, transphobia or racisim will not be tolerated, therefore, at any time can be asked to leave the studio.

*Sculpture/Craft/Installation practices will be considered. However, due to limitaions of shared space and respect of other person(s) work, Large Scale practices of more than 2 meters high/wide wont be considered. 2D practices and 3D practices of smaller scale are okay.

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Anyone. Recent graduates. Artists living and working creatively in the last 1-4 years.

What information do you need?
Artist CV, Artist statement and relevant images of artwork. PDF ONLY.
How much does it cost?
Studio space rent will be split evenly between 3 people. Unfortunately, electric bills are not included.

Studio 1:2: total price = £300 pcm.
What are the exhibition opening hours?
24 hour access.
Does the location have disabled access?
Yes. Lifts only.
Do I need to be present?
Yes.
How do you decide on proposals?
Based on artistic merit, craft, visual aspects, research, voice and vision.
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
If successful, you will be notified within 1-2 weeks of deadline 20/07/23. You will then be expected to agree and pay rent from 1st August 2023. NO deposit required.

Unfortunately, we cannot notify unsuccessful applicants.
What kind of proposals are you looking for?
Ideally looking for applications where Artist has an engagement with studio development, collaboration and personal development to emerging creative practice. Accepted and not limited to, drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, film, video-art, performance, text, textiles, craft, research, art-writing etc.

We are also open to other forms of media.
