Springboard is a 10 month training programme for 15 early career artists who want to enthuse and engage the public around contemporary art. Here you will learn the founding principles of delivering successful creative workshops, you will have the chance to shadow experienced artists and then you will deliver your own session at The Tetley.

This programme helps to equip artists who are innovative, creative and keen with the skills they need to break into the competitive world of arts education and participation. Volunteers will learn how to support and develop workshop activities and events for audiences that could include families, community groups and school pupils as well as our general visitors.

YOU MUST READ THE FULL ARTISTS' BRIEF BEFORE APPLYING - IT CAN BE FOUND AT www.thetetley.org/volunteering

VOLUNTEER BENEFITS -

Free training and mentoring support from experienced arts professionals around participation and learning practice in a contemporary arts venue. - The opportunity to devise and deliver educational or participatory activity at The Tetley and/or with Tetley audiences. - The opportunity to try out new ideas and activities related to individual interests and artistic practice. - Being part of a peer network of other artists and professionals involved in arts education and participation and gain a platform to raise your profile as an arts educator or participatory artist

The Tetley will work with approximately 15 individuals over a 10 month period. This current cycle will be from June 2017 – March 2018

TRAINING SESSIONS -

All participants in Springboard will be expected to take part in four short training sessions. These sessions will cover topics such as planning a project, creative questioning, workshop practicalities, developing your own practice into a workshop setting, finding inspiration in The Tetley and routes for public engagement with contemporary art.
All members will also undergo general risk assessment training and have the opportunity to have free Child Protection Training with the Leeds Safeguarding Children Board.
There will be a fantastic opportunity to engage in a Disability Awareness training session which will help you tailor your workshops to be more inclusive.

TIME COMMITMENT -

Activities vary in format and across the year so each volunteer’s time commitment will vary, depending on their availability and the type of projects they become involved with. In the 10 month period of the programme we would encourage a minimum commitment from each participant to develop and deliver at least one activity session of their own and support at least two others led by Tetley staff or freelance professionals in order for them to get the most benefit from the programme. This is a flexible programme and we will endeavour to accommodate applicants who have full time work, family or other commitments. However all participants must be able to attend the training sessions detailed below in order for them to take part.
