Stray Threads and Sludge is an experimental textile and ceramics exhibition, staging a group of young artists. The show highlights the possibilities of what textiles and ceramics can be and how tradition can be reimagined.

Stray Threads and Sludge is an experimental textile and ceramic exhibition,  looking to feature  local and international young artists. As part of the Fringe Arts Bath 2023 festival, the exhibition aims to explore the gap between these two traditional making processes and highlight their possibilities.

As ceramics and textiles share a connection to traditional craft and carry cultural and contemporary significance, the show allows the importance of craftsmanship to be explored further, in time where it is being redefined. Stray threads and Sludge is showcasing experimental artists and makers who are looking to alternative ways of working on ceramics and or textiles through their work.

A cross disciplinary selection of works will be selected and displayed (anywhere from 2d, 3d, performance, installation, etc). This show looks not only to redefine these ways of making and artworks but the way they are curated and shared. We are excited to have this opportunity to meet with the local and broader audiences through this year's Fringe Arts Baths festival.

Fringe Arts Bath(FaB) aims to raise the profile of contemporary visual arts in Bath and beyond, providing early-career and emerging Curtators and Artists with a platform for development as well as opportunities to test their ideas behind the gallery-based arts scene.  The Fab team organise a two-week festival of contemporary visual art exhibitions, events and workshops during Bath Fringe Festival in May/June each year. Free for all to attend, occupying empty shops, unusual spaces and making appearance around the streets of Bath.

Costs: £20 pound if application is accepted
