The Next Thing Moving Image Award is now open for submissions. Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre is inviting recent graduates of UK fine art courses and alternative art school students whose practice has a focus towards moving images to enter this exciting opportunity.
Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre's moving image award is now in its sixth year and we would like to invite recent graduates of UK fine art courses and alternative art school students whose practice has a focus towards moving images to enter this opportunity.
The aim is to discover the best video/film/moving image artists emerging from UK art school and offer them a high-quality professional development opportunity, by exhibiting their work with us.
The ten most promising artists discovered through the submission process will be given the chance to showcase their work in our Moving Image Gallery from 29 November 2023 to 3 February 2023.
The overall winner will be awarded £250 in order to aid the creation of future works.
To apply
- Please send 1 work that best represents your practice.
- Please remember to label file with name and title of piece.
- Single channel, films must be between 3 -10 mins. Any films under or over this time frame will not be considered.
- You will be asked to submit an artist’s statement (500 words maximum). It should include information about your artistic practice and describe the work you have submitted as part of your application. We are also happy to accept all detailed written information as a video or voice recorded format. Do not re-apply each year with the same film
- Please include the university you attended and the date or your application will not be viewed.

We regret that Bury Art Museum & Sculpture Centre is unable to respond to unsuccessful applications individually. Selection will take place in November and only successful applicants will be informed. If you have not had a response from us by 13 November, please assume your application has not been unsuccessful on this occasion.
