We are taking submissions from Sunderland based artists or artists with a strong link with Sunderland for a series of exhibitions at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens taking place until June 2020.

The Spaghetti Factory presents a series of three exhibitions on the third floor of Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens. The focus of this project is showcasing contemporary art talent from Sunderland.

If you have any questions about the open call or want to know more about the project you can catch us there or please send us a message. The open call is for the next two exhibitions, one around January-March and the other around March-June. We have a small exhibitions budget and can offer a small exhibiting fee of £100. We are happy to install and deinstall work. There may also be artists events that run alongside these exhibitions.

The Spaghetti Factory is a curatorial project that originated in a house in Central Newcastle. There’s been eight solo show exhibitions in this location. The Spaghetti Factory was started to show experimental work in a non-formal setting and the project has expanded to include pasta making workshops and guest curation in other regional gallery and pop-up spaces (Middlesbrough Art Weekender, System Gallery, BALTIC39, GOLDTAPPED at Newbridge Projects)

Co-founders Jenny Mc Namara and Eve Cromwell were awarded funding for this project through Sunderland Culture.
