Todmorden Open Studios invite applications for the Todmorden Makes Christmas event to be held on 24th, 25th, 26th November 2023. For all artists or makers based in Todmorden and surrounding area.

Individual artists, group studios and galleries are welcome to take part and open their studios, homes and venues. We also have a large venue, Tod College Hall, which is in the centre of Todmorden for those who would like to take part but live out of town or wish to be centrally located. 

Participation fees are listed below.

Your fee includes:

- A full colour brochure listing individual artists, studios and venues, with one image and brief description per submission.

- Flyers and posters distributed throughout the surrounding area.

- Social media presence.

- For those who would like to show their work in central Todmorden but do not have a studio or venue, we are offering table hire at Tod College, Burnley Road, in their spacious hall.  To secure your place, please apply as soon as possible.

We ask that all studios/venues and galleries to be open for the whole three day event. The times are 11am to 5pm,  Friday and Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.

Deadline for submission is 30th June 2023. No forms will be accepted after this date. Please check your details carefully.


Costs

£25 for each individual artist taking part. 

If you do not have a studio or venue, for £21 as an extra cost to your fee you can hire a table (or equivalent, such as easels) at Tod College. The total cost will be £46 for the Todmorden Open Studios submission fee and Tod College table hire.

£40 for exhibiting galleries /venues.  Artists would have to apply separately if they want to be listed in the brochure.

You need to make your payment when you apply by the deadline. Unfortunately, if you don't pay on or before the deadline we won't be able to accept your application.

Public Liability

Todmorden Open Studios organisers take no responsibility for Public Liability at your studio/home or venue. What photograph do I need to submit for publicity?
With your application send ONE good quality professional clear photograph of your artwork as a JPEG file. Write your own NAME as your title.

No frames or glass reflections on your image please. The image will be used on the printed publicity material and any social media used to advertise the event. Have you uploaded your image? This is essential.

The main image of your artwork for the brochure is essential.

If you are a venue, please submit one photo of your logo or appropriate photograph.
How much does it cost?
£25 for each individual artist taking part.

What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
Full colour brochures will be printed listing individual artists taking part with one image per artist plus flyers and posters. All of which will be distributed throughout Calderdale.
Do I need to be present?
Yes, it is essential that you are with your work during the whole event.
Where will my venue be listed?
In our printed publicity which will be a full colour brochure with details of the artists with their studio/venues.
On social media. We have a Facebook page (Todmorden Open Studios) and are on Instagram.
Artists showing work in venues.
If you have been invited by a venue to exhibit your work as, for example, a group show, we encourage you to apply as an individual artist if you would like to be listed in the brochure.
Where can I show my artwork if I do not have a studio/venue or want to open my home?
You will be able to rent a 6ft table, or equivalent size space for your displays, such as easels, at the centrally located Tod College, Burnley Road, in their large hall for an extra cost of £21 for the whole three days. There is wheelchair access and there is a site car park.
