Carlisle is set to become a city of creativity with the launch of Carlisle’s Urban Gallery! This exciting new initiative, led by the Art Town Collective, invites artists to showcase their work in city centre venues, transforming pubs, cafes, and restaurants into vibrant exhibition spaces.

Are you an artist looking to showcase your work in the heart of Carlisle? Be part of an exciting new initiative to transform our city into a vibrant, city-wide Urban Gallery.

Hosted by the Art Town Collective, this unique project will pair artists with city centre venues, including pubs, cafes, and restaurants, to enrich the cultural fabric of Carlisle.

This is a new initiative and we are looking for artists to work alongside to bring the Urban Gallery to life!

Whether you’re looking to display existing pieces or propose site-specific installations, this is a unique opportunity to engage with the local community and bring art to unexpected places.

While this is not a funded opportunity, artists will gain valuable exposure and can coordinate sales directly with host venues.

Submissions are open until Monday 10th March, with the exhibition launching in time for Easter and running until May. Join us in turning Carlisle into a city-wide gallery!

We invite artists to:

  • Submit images of up to 3 works & a short bio for display in participating venues.
  • Propose site-specific works for key locations around the city (please submit a 250-word proposal)

This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community and gain exposure, but please note:

  • This is not a funded opportunity.
  • Artists must arrange their own insurance and are responsible for their own work.
  • Sales of work can be arranged directly with host businesses.

Join us in making Carlisle’s first Urban Gallery a reality!

Deadline for submissions: Monday, 10th March

Confirmation of artwork selection & venue: Monday, 17th March

Installation week: w/c Monday, 24th March (artists to liaise directly with host venues to arrange installation)

The exhibition will open in time for Easter and will run until May.

Let’s bring creativity to every corner of Carlisle!
