The Open Gallery is looking for artworks on the theme of 'Wildlife and Countryside' for an exhibition in June 2024. This exhibition provides artists with a great opportunity to get greater exposure by exhibiting their work at the Open Gallery in front of a new audience.

The Open Gallery is looking for artists to display 2D and 3D artworks in our Gallery space in Halifax. The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday 11 am - 4 pm. The exhibition will run from 11th June - 29th June 2024.

Artists are invited to produce and submit original work on the theme of 'Wildlife and Countryside'.

We will accept artwork from any individual artist who lives/works in the UK and will be able to deliver and pick up their artwork to/from the gallery.

Any two-dimensional and 3D artwork can be submitted through curatorspace.com; the work can be in any media: painting, sculpture, photography, textile,  jewellery, artists' books, mixed media, etc, on the theme of 'Wildlife and Countryside'.

To Apply:

  • Free to apply. If accepted, there will be a participation fee of £40 per artist.  
  • Provide a short description of your work (250 words maximum) and how it is connected to the theme 'Wildlife and Countryside’. It will be published in the art catalogue.
  • Price (if you would like to sell it): if your work is not for sale, please state NFS.
  • Size measurements: if work is framed, then the size of the frame is in cm.
  • Three artworks.


The work can be offered for sale during the exhibition; there will be a commission charge of 20% of the sale price of each piece of art to cover the admin costs.

If accepted, your work will be exhibited in the gallery space, on the Open Gallery's website, and on social media channels, and it will be published in the art catalogue.

By taking part in the exhibition, you agree that your images can be used for any publicity material (social media and/or printed material like flyers or posters, etc.).

Yes. It is on 11th June from 5 pm - 7 pm.

Tuesday - Saturday from 11 am - 4 pm, Closed on Sundays & Mondays.
Does the location have disabled access?
No, but you could call the gallery if you require some help with coming up the stairs.
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
We will notify you by 14th May 2024.
