South Square is looking for an artist to design and execute a spectacular high quality, reusable light installation responding to the theme Nature and Woodland, for our ‘U shaped’ terrace cobbled courtyard. Deadline 20th October.

We are set in a unique Grade II listed building on Thornton Road, Bradford.  South Square is an Art Gallery with artist studios, event spaces, vegetarian cafe, and independent bar, located in one building.

The courtyard is used by visitors to the gallery, café and bar and on the weekend of 26th and 27th November, it will be visited by a large number of people enjoying South Square’s Makers Market and Thornton Winter Windows light switch on.

We would like artists to respond to the theme: Nature and Woodland.

Courtyard is approx. 5.60 metres wide by 20 metres long. It has a seating area and a staircase included within that.

We can offer up to £2000 which will encompass artist fees, materials, fabrication and installation costs.

The commission launch will be on Sunday 27th November at dusk with the Winter Windows light switch on.
