The New Art Examiner is an international journal of art criticism. First published in Chicago in 1973 is presently has editors in Chicago, Washington, London and Madrid.

The New Art Examiner is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to examine the definition and transmission of culture in our society; the decision-making processes within museums and schools and the agencies of patronage which determine the manner in which culture shall be transmitted; the value systems which presently influence the making of art as well as its study in exhibitions and books; and, in particular, the interaction of these factors with the visual art milieu.

We seek writers, cartoonists and other graphic artists on an ongoing basis for a bi-monthly publishing cycle. We do not allow

  • A faculty member to write about a present or past student.
  • Curators to write about their own artists
  • Writers to review artists they personally know
  • Accepting advertising in return for a review

If you feel you have something to say pitch us the idea from anywhere in the world, we publish in English and we will begin to also publish in Spanish on the website in the near future.

Our deadlines are ongoing. Our wish is for people to share their feelings for the visual experience be it an exhibition, a piece of theatre, architecture or a film.
