Open call submissions for WRITERS for Issue 6 of Haus-a-rest Zine and Social media platform.

We are seeking written submissions for Issue 6 of the Zine and Blog (and other social media) pages.

The theme for this issue is:

play

/pleɪ/

"To engage in activity for enjoyment and recreation rather than a serious or practical purpose."  But isn't the creation of art an enjoyable process? What if it's not? Is play always fun or does it have a darker side? How is work created in a playful way, do artists have fun and a damned good belly laugh pushing materials and processes to the limit, juggling ideas and tickling the underside of serious concepts, turning them on their head and making us think? Or are they toying with us and are utterly miserable as they play with their work?

We are really excited to see how you play with your words as you ponder and enlighten us with your thoughts and musings of how artists use play for the light the bright and the darker side of their practice.  Let us know artists that you think show good and bad examples and explore the performative aspects of  play in their creations and the simple enjoyment of expression (or not).

We are very excited to see your interpretation.

You will need to submit:

1) 500  - 1000 words.

2)  A short bio.

3) Your Instagram name so we can tag you.

4) Do you wish to join our mailing list Y/N?

5) An optional photo of yourself or an appropriate image that relates to the subject.

Your work will not be accepted if you do not provide all of the requested items.

We may choose your piece for our blog or for the Zine or both. I f chosen your piece will be on-line for at least a month and most likely many months as back issues of the Zine which we publish monthly. If we like your work we may ask you to be an on-going contributor.
