Rheged is an Arts, Food, and Culture venue that celebrates all that is great about Cumbria – its landscape, its food, its art, its culture, and its people. Located in the heart of Rheged, is our contemporary Gallery and Design Shop with and annual footfall 0f 100K, (460k to Rheged,) 100 metres of hanging space, all 2.9 metres high, and 369m² of floor space. Conveniently located just off the M6 (J40) at the Northern gateway to the Lake District we are an all-weather destination with free parking, open all year round.

We are best known for our annual flagship show, The Great Print Exhibition, and for curating our own forward thinking and high-quality exhibitions such as, Jackie Morris; The Lost Words, The Lost Spells, Beyond & Before, The Cutting Edge - Matisse & Contemporary Paper Artists, Native Spirit: The Herdwick, Everest Revisited, and New Quilting.

Since 2011 the Gallery has hosted and worked in partnership with the following organisations to create Exhibitions: Aardman, Alpine Club, Arts Council, Compton Verney, Cumberland Building Society, Craft Council, H & H Group PLC, Hayward Gallery, Mountain Heritage Trust, New Light Prize Award, The National History Museum, The National Trust, Northumberland National Park, NFU, Penguin Randon House, Rathbones, River Rowing Museum in partnership with Fredrick Warne & Co, Royal Geographical Society, Seven Stories, Warren Elsmore, Woman’s Hour Craft Prize in partnership with V&A, BBC, & Craft Council, University of Cumbria.
