'Breathing into Bloom’ exhibition at The White Room
'Breathing into Bloom' opens at The White Room in York on 3rd April 2015. This is a solo exhibition of work by Kathrine April Caddy, and features additional works collected through CuratorSpace which will be sold to raise money for Parkinson’s UK.
Katherine is a photographer and arts editor based in York, UK. She is an art history graduate and the founder of Yorkshire Art Journal. Katherine has been taking photographs for around six years and has built up an extensive and exciting body of self-portraiture that has inadvertently begun to map her personal history. "Breathing into Bloom", Katherine's first solo exhibition, takes place in The White Room Gallery in York between Friday 3rd April and Saturday 2nd May 2015, with an opening on Friday 3rd April between 6pm and 8pm.
This is Katherine's first solo exhibition, and consists of a selection of brand new work by the artist. Katherine's photographs are arranged on three walls of the space, whereas the fourth consists of images that others have contributed to the exhibition. Together these make for a fascinating and varied exploration of the concept of shelter and hideaways.
Katherine commented on her use of CuratorSpace to manage the call out for this accompanying photographs.
"I found CuratorSpace to be a fantastic resource for reaching new artists whose work I may never otherwise discover. I loved the fact that artists can upload images of their work with such ease and the format of the forms ensures that submissions are sufficiently detailed and organised."
The accompanying Hideaway photographs will be displayed on a wall as small postcard-sized photographs, each priced at £10. All proceeds from the postcards and 10% of profits from Katherine’s own work will go to Parkinson’s UK, a charity that is close to the artist’s heart.
The exhibition takes place between 3rd April and 2nd May 2015 at The White Room, Priestley’s at nº 36, Bootham, York. The gallery is open on Mondays (11am – 5pm) and Tuesday to Saturday (10am – 5.30pm). For more information go to http://katherineapril.com/breathing-into-bloom/.
