CuratorSpace Artist Bursary #18: Annie Trevorah

Annie Trevorah completed her MA in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art, working between sculpture, textiles, photography, video, and sound to communicates the socio-dynamic interplay between humans and nature. She has exhibited internationally with recent shows at Centro Culturale di Milano, Las Laguana Gallery, USA and 67 York Street, London.

"My new project, Symbiosis, looks at our immersion within a dynamic world and recreates the relationship between humans and nature, where they merge as one - reflecting linked evolutionary processes, a strong mutual dependence, and how fragments of our values and identities can be found in landscapes. This body of work celebrates that, as a biological species, we exist in symbiotic relations with the natural world. This relatedness extends beyond the physical to an emotional, perhaps spiritual connectivity, that transcends the boundaries of these systems.

In my work I mediate between potentiality and actuality, creatively assessing the environmental impact human activity has on nature, through an examination of experimental possibilities. With an emphasis on materiality, I combine a wide variety of materials, including clay, resin, glass, vegetation, fabric, metal, and stone. These provide an immersive interior landscape, creating a fantastical experience full of colour and wonderment. This work is part of Symbiosis, my first London solo show which ran from 16th - 23rd February at 19 Kensington Park Road."
