CuratorSpace Salon #4: Artist Union England Meetup and Social

CuratorSpace host their fourth professional development event for artists and curators in collaboration with Artists' Union England at 34 Boar Lane on Thursday 13th September. CuratorSpace Salons give you the chance to hear from creative professionals about the work they do and how they can help you to develop your own practice. You’ll also have the chance to have a drink and meet other people working in the arts. Feel free to bring flyers for your upcoming exhibitions and events to share.

This event will give you the chance to hear from Artists' Union England organiser Theresa Easton and find out what a trade union for artists is doing to help you, focusing on pay, studios, contracts and the future for the arts. Find out why you should be in a trade union, how to join and raise your concerns. Invited guest speaker Pete Keal, Humberside & Yorkshire TUC will also discuss the TUCs Cultural Manifesto.

Pete Keal

Based in West Yorkshire, Storyteller Pete Keal is the Equity representative for TUC Yorkshire and Humberside Executive and Creative and Leisure Industries Committee. He has been instrumental in establishing the Cultural Manifesto for the region.

"Drawn up by the Regional TUCs Creative and Leisure Industries Committee, the manifesto puts forward distinct policies for local and regional decision makers as well as measures for employers and engagers of creative and leisure industries sector workers to adopt as basic employment practice."
