Fuszerka Kolektyw Somerset, United Kingdom
Relative newcomers to the visual arts, Bristol-based Fuszerka Kolektyw paint and write together, creating art in contrasting and complementary styles. With a firm belief that serious does not imply solemn, paintings explore different ways of looking at subjects, from figurative to more abstract and expressive approaches, always maintaining a sense of fun.
Although relative newcomers to painting, Neil and Justina have been exhibited across the UK, as well as in Barcelona and Slovenia, as well as internationally published. Wokrs have been shown in Bristol's prestigious Royal West of England Academy and finalists in Cass Art's open walls competition and the Artful Prize. Producing work together and individually under the banner of "Fuszerka Kolektyw", they look to breath new life into familiar subjects and provoke deeper thought about their subjects, without ever losing sight of their sense of humour. Notable works have included a series of paintings studying women alone at each hour of the night, exploring vulnerability, strength and identity; a et that combines figurative still life with more abstracted views inspired from mathematics, engineering and cubism and a set of paintings that present subjects drawn from sci-fi and pop culture in the styles of old masters. As well as paintings, poetry has been published internationally and is performed live on occasions. Both Neil and Justina paint private comissions upon request.
