    Exploring the exciting properties of encaustic beeswax has been my passion for several years. First used by Ancient Egyptians as a painting medium, it saw a resurgence last century and has continued to flourish. Still relatively unknown in Europe, but once discovered, never forgotten. When I first took up my brush and dipped it into molten wax and pigment I knew I was hooked!

    Recent graduate of a first class degree in BA (Hons) Fine Art at the Northern School of Art. I enjoy the process of investigating landscape via graphite, paint, photography and collage.     I have a BA (HONS) in Applied Arts and have run my creative business Rustydusty since 2008. I am predominately a textiler and work in various textile disciplines. I have come back to my line and watercolour art after recently being accepted in the Lanzarote Art Festival. The experience of going over to Lanzarote to deliver workshops inspired me to use colour and develop my line work.

    Sadly, my real name isn't Using Glue, that's a trade name sort of thing to reflect the fact that I use a lot of glue in my work. My real name is Shane O'Leary.     I grew up in the ancient port of Whitby, in northern England which sits between the North Yorkshire Moors and the North Sea. This dramatic environment has influenced my art as much as my multi-ethnic ancestry and popular culture. As do the conflicts within our existence: light and dark; life and death; imprisonment and freedom; censorship and expression.
