Anna Yakusheva Bedfordshire, United Kingdom
Anna is a Ukrainian artist-researcher based in the UK and working in the style of metamodernism. She was born in 1991. Having been first educated as an academic artist she has the daring and skill to experiment with traditional and contemporary approaches to representation. Her works explores the psycho-emotional state and ego projections as a tool for self-discover and liberation from illusions
Anna's works are born at the intersection of watercolour, collage and elements of visual metaphor, exploring the themes of identity, mental states and connection with the Universe. They contain emotional states, observations of oneself and others, searches for meaning and freedom.
In 2023, Anna created her "Quantum Collage" technique, in which she combined light watercolour and collage techniques in an effort to convey certain messages and coded ‘‘signals’’ to the viewer for their inner transformation and awakening of spiritual awareness. In her work she uses recognisable images as alternative meanings for each of her viewers, onto which each projects their own experiences charting their own unique life path. She reinterprets glossy magazines as an artefact of our time and applies images and words from them in her works, thus adding additional meanings to the works.
Each of her works, like each person and their destiny, can be viewed for as long as the retina of an eye that never repeats itself.
