    Alison Lowry is a visual artist based in Saintfield, Northern Ireland. Her ground breaking work, ‘(A)Dressing our hidden truths’, shown at the National Museum of Ireland, (2019- present), was one of the first acknowledgements of the Magdalene Laundries presented in an Irish Institution.     I'm a neurodivergent, female, 19 year old artist based in West Yorkshire who specialises in themes of mental health, gender, and nature. My artwork is commonly a method of empowerment and activism, harnessing creative outlets to help both myself and others understand concepts that words struggle to articulate, or to convey a universal message that is limited by language.

    I graduated from the Royal college of Art 2001. As an artist I am interested in the fugitive relationship between the sublime, the abject, and contemporary perceptions of beauty.     I’m a Chesterfield-born painter and Sheffield Hallam Fine Art graduate (2018). Formerly based at S1 Artspace (2019–24), I now work from Yorkshire Artspace’s Exchange Place. My work has included a collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Sheffield (JCT600), and I was nominated for the 2019 Keith Hayman Public Art Award for my mural 'Sheffield, the city as an egg'.

    I am a trained textile and surface pattern designer and have been fortunate to have travelled extensively to which has inspired the majority of my art work. I enjoy working with multimedia and utilising digital technology for the final piece. I am inspired by the combination of colourways in landscapes, nature and abstract imagery.
