    Originally from North Yorkshire, I gained a degree in Fine Art Printmaking at Sheffield Hallam in 1983 and made Sheffield my home. My career as an artist and educator spans over thirty years and I have worked in as a solo practitioner and collaboratively in film, photography, performance/spoken word, text, installation, 3D.

    Born 1957 and raised by artist parents, I've been immersed in creativity all my life. I completed an AA in art before emigrating to London, settling, working as a professional seamstress, and having 2 boys 18 years apart (1983, 2001). Acquired a BA in Interior Architecture in 2000. My art and craft has emerged and evolved in various forms and waves across the 40+ years I've lived here.

    My art is about bringing imagination to life through abstract and semi-abstract pieces. I work mainly with mixed media, using acrylic paint and inks, building up layers of paint, texture, and intuitive markings. I love experimenting with marks and I enjoy creating small details within large paintings. Nature is my greatest inspiration.

    I work from Yorkshire Artspace, Sheffield. My sculpture & installation practice uses steel wire, salvaged materials & writing to explore invisibility, voicelessness & the politics of periphery. By refusing tidy coherence, my work becomes embodied communication supporting marginalised narratives, tracing links between historical & contemporary silencing, & challenging expectations of expression.

    I work with site-responsive installation, photography and video using light, space and wind and am inspired by the ordinary, the everyday and the need to find meaning in our lives.     I've been working in education as a technician in various guises for over ten years. This has given me a wealth of knowledge and encounters that crosses specialist subject areas and allows me to bring in processes from different specialism into my art practice. I am currently undertaking my Masters in History of Design run jointly by the RCA and V&A.
