Ashley Ferrari is a Yorkshire-based oil painter specialising in atmospheric semi-abstract landscapes.

Ashley Ferrari is a self-taught oil painter with a previous background in Chemistry. Ashley is deeply interested in the material properties of pigments and makes particular use of unusual earth pigments in her work.

Ashley draws inspiration for her paintings from the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire landscape, and aims to capture its transient and ethereal qualities. To this end, Ashley makes extensive use of velaturas, building up many layers of translucent colour in pursuit of an atmospheric effect. Central to Ashley’s practice is the pursuit of colour harmony, and appreciation of its role in soothing and energising the mind.

Through balancing detail with abstraction, Ashley aims to resonate with those who are stirred by the natural landscape, and to stir those who would remain unmoved. She envisions each painting as a portal through time and space, to the far distant memories or favourite places that are unique to each viewer; or, to a future sky that has yet to be seen.
