    Having worked with photography and cinema production, as well as different media and areas of painting, from porcelain to textiles, for over 20 years my art has been expressed in painting silks and photographing instants in the development of the painting process.     Sadly, my real name isn't Using Glue, that's a trade name sort of thing to reflect the fact that I use a lot of glue in my work. My real name is Shane O'Leary.     My work pulls from autoethnography a lot, using lived experience alongside academic literature to tell a story and grasp audiences in a way that feels relatable and direct in order to address the culture we are in. I prefer my work to be accessible, this means audience of any and all backgrounds can engage with my work. I feel a picture can speak a thousands words.

    My visual arts practice derives from a sense of place and community anchored in politics and experiences of a working-class background. Printing offers me the materiality and medium to experiment with images of strength and violence, representing tactile anger in keeping with present times. I make woodcuts, lino and wood engraving, as well as the traditional medium of etching and aquatint.
