Ashley Cundall is a Manchester based British contemporary artist best known for expressive urban and architectural paintings, particularly of UK cityscapes and coastal towns. He works mainly in acrylic, mixed media, and watercolour, often combining loose washes with bold line work, using Impressionistic and Expressionistic elements.

I begin each piece when/where I can by creating an onsite timed sketch to truly capture the mood and ambience of a location. Subsequently, I study these sketches and begin with an underpainting, usually in the style of Cezanne using purple or Payne;s Grey. Subsequently, these sketches and paintings are built on through careful blending and sometimes by incorporating some very whimsical shapes to give the art a playful feel. I then finish off the piece with glazing in watercolour, fluorescent acrylic or drawing pens.

I aim to have at least a 'power hour' dedicated to producing art exclusively on a daily basis.
