Caroline Ingham is a London-based artist and member of the Royal Society of Sculptors. She holds an MA Fine Art (painting) from Camberwell College of Arts. She exhibits regularly and has had her work selected for the Society of Women Artists, London Group Open 2025 and No Place Art ‘Materiality; edition one’.
Working between sculpture and painting, Caroline Ingham’s practice explores the tension between strength and fragility through non-figurative forms that evoke the human body. Through sustained experimentation, Caroline has developed a distinctive sculptural process using distemper-impregnated paper that is waxed, painted, and stitched, building and reworking surfaces through touch, pressure, and repetition. Her works carry the marks of their making, holding subtle shifts in weight, tension, and repair, giving shape to experiences that are often unseen and unspoken.
Caroline’s sensitive handling of material reveals a deep awareness of its expressive and structural potential and enables her to investigate surface, skin, and create forms that resonate with both the physical and emotional dimensions of corporeality. Surface and structure become sites where traces of endurance and transformation are held and revealed. Stitching operates as both material intervention and metaphor for trauma and repair.
Caroline’s intention is to invite viewers into a quiet, intimate space where they can consider the body beyond its physical presence—where vulnerability becomes a source of reflection rather than weakness.
