    I am a Visual Artist, Researcher and Maker specialising in textiles, who has recently completed an AHRC-funded practice-based doctorate at Northumbria University.     Dave Mitchell is a Gay artist working predominantly on canvas particularly focused on the pervasive nature of darkness upon a world of colour, as a visual metaphor for mental health challenges in the modern age; primary vision is through the eyes of an LGBTQ+ adult.     After studying Textile Design at University Deborah became a secondary school Art teacher for nearly ten years. However these days she enjoys working from home on her paintings and models along with running workshops in the local area. Currently Deborah’s Art takes the form of creating miniature buildings which are then hand painted to bring them to life.

    My practice is one of storytelling through various mediums, some might be painting with subtle narrative elements, straight forward illustrations or short animations. Mostly, I search for the subtle narrative weaved within aesthetics.

    I trained as a sculptor at Kingston University and Chelsea College of Art, U.A.L. I have taught drawing at the City Lit, at Camberwell College of Art and the University of Hertfordshire and have held residencies at the Drawing Centre at Wimbledon Art College, the Geography Departments of Royal Holloway, University of London, and Exeter University, amongst others.
