Emma Wroe South Yorkshire, United Kingdom
I am an abstract watercolour artist from Barnsley, South Yorkshire. I enjoy working with non-traditional mark-making and experimenting with impasto style watercolour techniques. I graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 2012 and in 2018 I returned to Uni to study for my masters degree in Education.
The abstract form my art takes reflects the intangible nature of my subject matter. My work is a direct manifestation of moods, feelings and internal atmospheres. I like to experiment with different mediums although in the past few years I have been completely obsessed with impasto style watercolour techniques. This process relies on different stages of layering and scraping back in order to achieve a blended and textured outcome. I have been a painter for seventeen years and have taken part in many collective and open exhibitions around South Yorkshire and Manchester, although I have never had a solo exhibition of my work.
