I am a full time artist, living and working in North Yorkshire. Leaving teaching after 22 years has been a revelation and has allowed me to develop and think about the work I make and connect with others. .My creative practice is autobiographical, telling the stories my life and documenting them in their raw and vulnerable form. Using mixed media and text to communicate raw emotions.

I have been a practicing artist since 2015 and identify as an artist researcher, seeking to constantly develop my own practice and the mediums in which I communicates. I am an artist describing myself as an autoethnographer , using my own exploration of self to connect with others . My mixed media pieces are very tactile, with liberal the use of hand stitching and a strong use of text that communicates her thoughts of identity, conformity, being a woman and search for self. My current work is exploring the thought, who am I as an artist. I use my work to convey messages and stories around identity, conformity, being a woman and searching for self. I use my own stories and those of other women to create meaningful work that connects. My most recent body of work confronted the topic losing a sense of who we are and regaining it; on paper and canvas by using hand and machine stitching, collage work, ink and acrylic paint. I am currently exploring how size of work created affects the message it is communicating. In my work words are crucial and I explore what words communicate the rawest of emotions in a the least number of words. I have a daily creative practice of writing and single line drawings capturing the moment in time. When beginning projects I absorb myself in the process and research whilst allowing myself to be open to what happens.
