Hanzhi Zhong United Kingdom
I am a Chinese artist based in London, working across printmaking, illustration, animation, and sculpture. My practice combines figurative and abstract approaches, focusing on monoprint and experimental printmaking. My work has been exhibited across the UK, the US, and Italy, exploring the relationship between emotion, material, and the natural world.
My practice explores the relationship between emotion, memory, and perception through printmaking and drawing. Working primarily with monoprint and screen printing, I embrace process, chance, and layering as a way of reflecting the instability of human experience. Rather than depicting fixed narratives, my work creates open, ambiguous spaces where forms emerge, dissolve, and transform. I am interested in the tension between presence and absence, abstraction and figuration, allowing meaning to develop through gesture, texture, and materiality. My practice invites viewers to slow down and engage with the subtle emotional landscapes that exist beyond language.
