Jacquie O'Neill Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

I am a Cornwall based artist with a practice rooted in nature, spirit, and feminine energy.

After a 25-year career as an illustrator working to commercial briefs, my work has shifted towards a slower, more responsive studio practice grounded in time spent in the natural world.

Working between observation and intuition, I create paintings on varied surfaces, including bark treated with traditional gesso. My materials include handmade inks and pigments foraged from the wild as well as acrylic paints and gesso.

Trees, landforms, and shifting seasons are recurring points of reference for me, alongside mythology and the feminine. Rather than depicting specific locations, my work responds to the emotional experience of being in nature and its capacity to hold us through our life stages.

I am currently undertaking a year-long Studio Practice Programme at Newlyn School of Art, after completeing the Year Long Defining Practice Programme.
