    I am a visual artist working in sculpture installation and print. With a BA in 3D Design in Glass from UCA Farnham, I graduated with an MA in Art and Science from Central Saint Martins London 2018. Investigating themes related to natural forces and perception, I won the National Open Art Prize Installation Category in 2017 and was selected for the British Glass Biennale 2022.

    I'm Ella Johnston, my practice is an ongoing investigation into mark-making, gesture, and the calligraphic line. I (mainly) draw, paint and create sculptural pieces.     Rachel Rimell is a photographic artist based in North Yorkshire exploring the transience of human experience and place against the backdrop of an interconnected landscape. Her work is informed by notions of the inner self and the outer persona and the invisible threshold between the two and kinship with the ‘out there’ beyond the confines of the human body.

    During total isolation, in lockdown, I painted over a 164 artworks up to date. I also took up meditation which allowed my imagination to flow again. It was cathartic and eased the trauma from what was happening in the outside world. Life is returning back to what was before, but with a greater sense of appreciating family and friends, united.

    As an artist and crafts person most of my adult life in a variety of disciplines, in the past 20 years I have been concentrating on working in two different areas.. CERAMICS creating mosaic pictures using my hand painted ceramic tiles, which are fired before breaking to create the design. and POLYMER CLAY, producing jewellery and recently miniature land and seascapes.
