    Layla Jabbari is a Hull-based illustrator working in print and mixed media, including animation and sculpture. Layla's work was shortlisted for the Flourish Awards for excellence in Printmaking and selected for Ones to Watch, Yorkshire 2024. Layla was longlisted for World Illustration Awards 2023 and is on the Artist Inter_change program at Humber Street Gallery Hull.

    I am a mixed media artist based in Haworth, West Yorkshire. Upcycling is a theme that runs throughout my work, I have well established jewellery range my earrings and pendants with matching Teeny Tiny Tins. My mixed media pieces are all created from vintage finds including sections of printer's trays, mill bobbins and trinket pots. My two main collections feature ferns and bees.

    Derby based artist Nicki Dennett creates multi-layered, mixed media prints inspired by life around her. Nicki’s continual observation of her environment and an appreciation of all aspects of existence inspire her work. Research and development of materials are key to my work and continually filling sketchbooks are often the idea basis for my handmade prints.

    I started out in art creating pencil pet portraits for friends and family. When these proved popular, I branched out and began experimenting with a variety of media, and a variety of subjects.     I completed a Graduate Diploma in Textile Design at Chelsea College of Arts, where I was awarded the William Callaway Scholarship, specialising in material-led processes and traditional weaving techniques. My work blends traditional Jamdani weaving with contemporary aesthetics, creating woven artworks that explore the entangled histories of a colonial past through material narratives.
