    My favourite subject is the English countryside, especially trees, and I am captivated by low light and the challenge of trying to capture it in oils. I love to use oil paint but oil pastels and oil sticks are my deepest passion.

    Eugene Power trained in fine art painting at Falmouth School of Art and University of East London and has worked as a lecturer in Adult and Further Education for over 25 years. His main practice is in painting, but he also works with photography, assemblage and collage.

    I grew up in Zambia, studied Classics and Education at St. Mary’s University in London, and later graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a B.A. Honours in Fine Art. As teacher and artist, my interests have often overlapped. I have exhibited in many English and European cities, as can be seen in my CV on this website.     I am an artist, based in South East London. I have taken part in local and international exhibitions, and my artwork is owned by private collectors in the UK and Europe.     Having completed a degree in Fine Art I went on to complete an MA Fine Art at BCU . I revel in exploring, unpicking, and going on a journey to see where the art takes me. When I paint and draw, I really do feel the work emanates from within and emerges, bursting forth. I embrace my gestural approach, and investigate large scale using oil, oil sticks, and water soluble crayons.
