    I graduated from the Royal college of Art 2001. As an artist I am interested in the fugitive relationship between the sublime, the abject, and contemporary perceptions of beauty. I am interested in exploring form and material structure to expand the boundaries, physical presence , and significance of painting, and in this context its potency as a vehicle for metaphor and ideas.

    I am a painter who is interested in people, places, objects and groups in society. My role as a teacher informs my work and I often respond to my immediate environment. Painting offers a special opportunity to combine imagery, technique and art historical references to tell stories and suggest ideas. The act of looking, drawing and the physical mixing and application of colour are important to me.

    I'm a painter of nature, climate, weather and natural phenomenon using recessive colours, working in Norfolk, UK. My work is associated with embracing the shadow side of the natural world, themes of non self, and a deep concern for the state of the climate. I predominantly use oil for landscapes and seascapes with a limited colour palette, which shifts slowly over time.

    I am primarily a Landscape Artist but, also create still life and narrative paintings. These are mostly in oil paint. I work out of a studio in Wood Green, part of The Cumberland Road Collective, a group of some 40 Artists and growing.     As mixed media artist, I have worked as a textile artist since I took early retirement 14 years ago. Recently, I have also restarted water colour painting and my work now includes a mixture of paint, fabrics, stitch, hand weaving and embellishments. I have taken many courses on textile art techniques, printing, eco dyeing, paper making. etc.
