  Back to profiles

Jana Bareham is a printmaker working with mokuhanga, the traditional Japanese woodblock printing method that uses hand-carved woodblocks, watercolours, washi paper, and a bamboo baren. Rooted in natural materials and slow, tactile processes, her work reflects a deep respect for ecology and craftsmanship.

My prints are invitations to slow down and observe. Each one holds a trace of a journey, of moving through a landscape, of light shifting on a surface, of time passing through weather and touch. They are shaped by hand, by material, and by the changing conditions of nature. In their making and in their viewing, they call for presence: for looking closely, breathing deeply, and being fully in the moment. My work is, above all, a journey of observation and an invitation to be present, to pause, to see, and to simply be.
