I am Kate Tulett, a visual artist and art educator based in Oxted, Surrey. I work in acrylic, textile and upcycled mixed media, with sustainability and ocean conservation at the heart of my practice. I run Kate Tulett Art, an inclusive community studio, and I am the creator of Turning Tides, a book and card set exploring ocean conservation."
My practice combines acrylic painting, textile work and upcycled mixed media, often using freehand machine embroidery to bring texture and story into a piece. Sustainability runs through everything I make, from the materials I choose to the themes I explore, particularly ocean conservation. My artwork Protection, made using acrylic on calico with freehand machine embroidery, reflects this focus. Alongside my own work, I have spent around thirty years teaching art, including fifteen years as Head of Art at a secondary school. I now run Kate Tulett Art, an accredited Arts Award Centre and inclusive community studio in Limpsfield Village, Oxted. My studio supports adults, young people and students with additional needs, offering everything from GCSE art support to community drop in sessions. I am the creator of Turning Tides, a book and card set that explores ocean conservation through art, and I host the podcast Design for Every Mind, which looks at neurodiversity and creative education. My work has been recognised with a 2026 NSEAD Highly Commended award and a Muddy Stilettos Award, and I am currently a finalist in the Tandridge Business Awards 2026 for Micro Business of the Year
