    I am a neurodivergent artist making art about living with neurodiversity through ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, installation and sculpting. I was born with autism, am dyslexic, have a high IQ, went through an event aged 17 and then another linked event aged 18 that left me with PTSD and that caused developmental issues in my brain leading to the symptoms of ADHD now being prevalent.

    I qualified with a BA in Fine Art in 1982 and after a career in FE and HE I retired early in 2018. I make paintings and sculpture based on real and remembered landscapes presented together to suggest non-linear narratives. In 2004 I took timeout to study an MA in Creative Technology working with 3d modelling and real/virtual environments reflecting the superimposition of memory over place.

    Father, husband, artist teacher. I love learning and my practice is simply that - I enjoy the craft of making - be it 2 or 3 dimensional, and I simply couldn’t teach if I wasn’t creating.

    At my studio pottery on the Yorkshire coast I produce a combination of thrown and handbuilt ceramics, using mostly Stoneware clays, coloured slips and glazes.

    My favourite subject is the English countryside, especially trees, and I am captivated by low light and the challenge of trying to capture it in oils. I love to use oil paint but oil pastels and oil sticks are my deepest passion.

    I am a graduate professional artist with BA Fine Art First Class Honours 2006. I'm inspired by the landscape and create work that abstracts what I see and experience. Often working en plein air I create dynamic & colourful compositions. I'm inspired by abstract expressionism with rapid expressive mark making & striking colours of Fauvism.     As mixed media artist, I have worked as a textile artist since I took early retirement 14 years ago. Recently, I have also restarted water colour painting and my work now includes a mixture of paint, fabrics, stitch, hand weaving and embellishments. I have taken many courses on textile art techniques, printing, eco dyeing, paper making. etc.
