Katie Lenegan (b.1978, Oldham) is an artist based in the Cotswolds. She studied at the Manchester School of Art, MMU and graduated with a B.A.Hons Degree in Fine Art and later a PGCE in Further Education. She is a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts and her work is in both private and corporate collections.

Light and nature are a main theme and fascination for my work. I draw inspiration from the natural environment and the seasonal shifts. The garden has become an important feature of my work and the cycles of regeneration and decay inspire my painting. I work from observation combined with painting intuitively to capture the glimpse of something and fleeting light. Abstraction is brought into the painting to convey a sense of a place and time. The translucent qualities of watercolour aid the capture of an ephemeral subject matter on linen and paper.
