Laura Stefana Candet Romania
Belonging to the field of visual arts, Laura Candet uses both established artistic means and New Media for the development of her artistic projects. Starting from the premise that art has a cathartic purpose, the artist aims to deconstruct the identity processes present in the Romanian social-cultural space and beyond.
Working in the field of arts now for almost 6 years, I am writing currently my Phd in the cultural identities found in Eastern European emerging artists and practices found in their artistic journey. Thus, I am conducting myself projects relating the post communist era of Romania in th early 20s, trauma regarding growing up in these aspects and the traditional impressions led by customs and myhts. Working in the extremes, both in traditional mediums like oil painting, charcoal, pastels, watercolor and so on but choosing New Media as well, I consolidate the feeling of extreme changes felt as a kid in a constant shifting mentality of people trying to grasp the fresh air of globalization, international cultures and more.
