Lyudmila is a multi-discipline artist, works with installations, video, text and photography. lives and works in Lodon, UK

The multimedia artist works with personal memories and stories, continuing the family tradition of storyteller through the female line, from grandmother to granddaughter. She collects fragments of information about relatives and events, augmenting this archive with personal experience.

The artist transforms the collected material into various media: photography, video, installation, sculpture, text and also fixes it in the format of an author's book, in an attempt to foresee the future through a reinterpretation of the past.

She was born and raised in an industrial region, so her work is often site-specific and carries an industrial heritage.

Each project is based on memories and references to the past, raising everyday, social and political issues. For example, the installation «Best before: unlimited» begins with a story about the childhood trauma of life on a farm and further explores the theme of artificial meat production, advertising manipulation and consumer culture.

A common technique used by the artist is the method of repetition ('Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V'). Despite its inherently mechanical copying, which can lead to depersonalisation, it paradoxically emphasises the uniqueness of personal memories, thus reinforcing the notion of individuality.

Lyudmila Kalinichenko was born in the Urals, Russia, and now lives in London, UK. To adapt to a new place, environment and culture after emigrating, she places fleeting motivational quotes with video projections on the streets.
