MIRIA MIRIA North Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Miria Miria is a cross-media artist whose practice spans assemblage, installation, costume, performance and painting. She holds a First-Class Honours BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London, and an MFA with Distinction from BALTIC x Northumbria University. She brings a distinct perspective shaped by diverse cultural and political environments.
Central to my practice is the use of unwanted plastics—materials shaped by human consumption, yet overlooked or abandoned. I collaborate with these fragments, allowing figurative forms to emerge intuitively, balanced on wooden supports that introduce an organic counterpoint. These assemblages form the core of my installations, where artificial and natural elements coexist in precarious harmony. Performance is an extension of this practice. Costumes echo the sculptural forms, blurring distinctions between body and material. Movement is accompanied by a live soundtrack from DJ Jack [Last Name], creating a dynamic interplay between sound, presence, and environment.
