I make my work for the love of it. Endlessly curious with time to play and discover who I am and what I have to say. I have spent a long time dealing with day to day living and kept the inner voice alive but undernourished. Unwilling to be led from my own path but enjoying learning alongside other honest folk who are equally seeking their own direction and willing to share thoughts and ideas.
Working mostly on paper using watercolor, acrylic, ink and pencil. I enjoy allowing the materials to go in the direction that they need to go. I rarely dislike what is produced though patience is needed as the work will not be hurried. Collaging papers that I have made myself with a gel plate is rewarding to me. For now, my practice is like a dance, generally unlit and private.
I worked in textiles for many years dying my own fabrics to create the colors of my choice. What began being inspired by thrift and restriction became, over time more painterly. Covid-world rendered normal daily life meaningless for many, myself included and the reason NOT to explore my own artistry melted away. Thus began my journey to learn, on my own terms, what expression interests me most.
Within a short time I found that my work was being appreciated. I was exhibiting in a local gallery and my work was being sold.
I have found a group of professional artists now that I meet with regularly to share workshops and to exchange thoughts and opinions. A safe and supportive, like-minded group of friends are invaluable and offer the opportunity to exhibit and grow stimulated by workshops and projects from within the group and from the wider community.
