Mila Romans West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Mila is a Ukrainian-British professional multidisciplinary artist based in Leeds. Driven by her interest in neuro-aesthetics, she explores human conditions and the relationship between humans and the environment across several disciplines. She specializes in portraiture, hand-crafted lamps, and fine art photography. Mila exhibited internationally. Her work is in private collections worldwide.
Personal experiences, observations, and a deep interest in liminality drive Mila Romans' art practice. Her interdisciplinary approach is characterized by exploring the ambiguous boundaries between different states of being and forms, drawing inspiration from nature and the behaviour and metamorphosis of living beings. Her practice constantly evolved; as her painting skills became more photographic, her photography transcended reality and became more painterly. Her paintings use found materials and sculpting techniques to create a three-dimensional effect. Mila bends and upcycles her artwork, transforming them into light installations. Her art challenges perceptions and pushes the boundaries of traditional art forms, resulting in thought-provoking, interactive, and immersive experiences. She also performs alongside moving images and finds authentic movements in her independent practice to process her feelings and emotions, heal, and understand the world around her.
